Obituary of Edwin Puuri Liminga Edwin E. Puuri, 84, a resident of the Liminga Road, passed away at his home on Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, following a lengthy illness. He was born on June 18, 1920, in Detroit, a son of the late Matt & Emma (Porkka) Puuri. At the age of 10 he moved with his parents to the Liminga area, where he had resided since that time. Edwin had attended college for 1 year following his graduation from high school. Mr. Puuri was the former Stanton Twp. Clerk, a dairy farmer, and was employed by Michigan Technological University as a electronics technician in the metallurgy department On March 25, 1950, he was united in marriage to the former Ingrid Peltola in Liminga. He was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock, where he had served on the previous Church Board, was a former Sunday School Teacher, and a Camp Lahti Carpenter. As a hobby he was a licensed radio ham operator, and was the "Jack of All Trades","Master of Many." He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Sister, Ruth; and 2 brothers, Ted & John Surviving are: his wife His 6 children: James (Starr) Puuri of Kalispell, Montana Joanne (Byron) Hodges of Hancock Duane (Brenda) Puuri of Houghton Matt Puuri of Kalispell, Montana Joyce (Steve) Smith of Dollar Bay Tom Puuri of Baltic 18 Grandchildren 1 Great Grandchild 3 Brothers: Paul (Lucille) Puuri of White Pine Carl (Evelyn) Puuri of Roanoke, Virginia Robert Puuri of Liminga 1 Sister: Mrs. Katherine Karkkainen of Hancock numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Monday, September 20, 2004, at 11 A.M. in the Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock with Revs. Gerry Southerton & Elmer Liimatta to officiate. Burial to be in the Liminga Cemetery. Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock, on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004 from 4 to 8 P.M. and for 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
