Obituary of Eino Sarja Twin LakesEino A. Sarja, 92, a former resident of Twin Lakes passed away Wednesday February 18, 2009, at the D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.He was born on August 4, 1916, in Winona, MI, a son of the late Matt and Saida (Tervonen) Sarja. Eino was a graduate of the Winona School.Mr. Sarja was a veteran having served with the United States Army during World War II.Eino was then employed with the Railroad and then had worked for the White Pine Copper Mine as a miner until his retirement.On February 15, 1948, he was united in marriage to Lempi Kohtala and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2004. Mr. Sarja was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Atlantic Mine.Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, and his brother Uno.Surviving are: His daughter: Eva Klapper of Augusta, GAHis grand daughter: Jennifer Klapper of Lexington, S.C.His sister: Sylvia Peterson of CalumetHis Sister-in-laws:Florence (Albert) Pesola of DodgevilleIrene (Robert) Byykkonen of IshpemingEva Kohtala of NegauneeHis brother-in-law: Joe Marttila of HoughtonSeveral nieces, nephews, and cousinsFuneral services for Eino will be held 1 pm. Saturday February 21, 2009, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Richard Eskola to officiate.
