Obituary of Elizabeth Rompf Houghton Elizabeth M. Rompf, 86, a lifelong resident of Houghton passed away Tuesday evening January 15, 2013, at the Garden View Assisted Living Facility in Calumet, where she had been a resident since this past September. She was born on May 7, 1926, in Houghton, a daughter of the late Julius and Rose (Michels) Rompf. Betty attended St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic School in Houghton and graduated from Houghton High School as Valedictorian, class of 1944. Ms. Rompf retired as Deputy County Clerk of Houghton County in 1988, after 42 years of service to Houghton County. Betty was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton. She lived her faith daily and enjoyed visiting the nursing homes with Father John for church services. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brothers Ernie and Robert and her sister Genevieve Rompf. Surviving are: Her nieces and nephews A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth will be held 11 am Tuesday January 22, 2013, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton with Fr. Corbin Eddy to celebrate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
