Obituary of Ellen Hiltunen Houghton Ellen E. Hiltunen, 92, a former resident of the Heritage Manor Apartments in Houghton passed away Monday September 21, 2009, at the Mather Nursing Home in Ishpeming where she had been a resident patient since this past October. The former Ellen Hiltunen was born on February 2, 1917, in Oneco, a daughter of the late Kristo and Anna (Ahola) Hiltunen and had attended the Oneco School. For most of her lifetime she resided in Paavola, and in 1994, moved to Houghton to make her home at Heritage Manor. Ellen had worked at the former Thomas Ristel & Co. in Houghton for 25 years. On May 21, 1934, she was united in marriage to Wilbert C. Hiltunen and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2000. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, her sons, Roy and Louis and her granddaughter, her brothers and her sister. Surviving are: 7 grandchildren: Colette (Karl) Mounts, Louise Powell, Debbie (Patrick) Keith, Louie Jr. (Tammy) Hiltunen, Mark (Kathy) Hiltunen, Cheryl (Mike Tuominen) Hiltunen, Paulette Hiltunen. 22 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren Several grand nieces & grand nephews Funeral services for Ellen will be held 2 pm Friday September 25, 2009, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral home of Hancock with Rev. Elmer Liimatta to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. Friends may call on Friday September 25, 2009, from 1 pm until time of services at the funeral home.
