Obituary of Elmer Koski Chassell Elmer A. Koski, 92, a former resident of the Chassell Painesdale Rd., passed away Monday morning January 17, 2005, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock, where he had been a resident patient for over the past year. He was born on June 26, 1912, in Atlanitc Mine, a son of the late Matthew and Catherine (Kempainen) Koski. As a child he attended the Paradise School. Elmer moved to the Southfield, MI area where he raised his family and worked as a Tool & Die Maker for the Valeron Corporation. In his retirement Elmer moved back to the family farm on the Paradise Rd. for the summers and then to Port St. Lucie, Fl for the winters. Mr. Koski was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell and Copper Country Lodge #135 F & A.M. While he resided in Southfield Elmer was a founding member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and sat on the Board of Auditors of the church. In 1937 he was united in marriage to the former Helen (Nousianen) and she preceded him in death in 1970, in 1977 he was united in marriage to the former Sylvia (Kempainen). Surviving are: His wife Sylvia 1 Daughter: Sharon (Tom) Mazanec of Burnsville, MN 1 Son: Michael E. Koski of Rancho Mirage, CA 3 Grandchildren: Gregory, Matthew, and Jennifer all of the Minneapolis, MN area 8 Great Grandchildren 1 step Daughter: Sara (Carl) Domitrovich of White Pine 1 Step Son: David Marttinen of Denver CO 2 Step Grandchidlren: Nick & Robert Funeral services for Elmer will be held Saturday January 29, 2005 at 11 A.M. in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell with the Rev. Ted Koehl to officiate. Spring Burial to be in the Chassell Cemetery. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell has been assisting the family with the arrangements.
