Obituary of Elvie Rautiola Houghton Elvie M. Rautiola, 74, a former resident of Houghton and Hancock and presently of Taylor, MI, passed away early Sunday morning June 18, 2006, at the Oakland Heritage Hospital in Taylor where she had been a patient for the past 10 days. She was born on September 7, 1931, in Alston, a daughter of the late Walerius and Amelia (Hakala) Kero. As a child she attended and graduated from the Baraga Schools. On August 18, 1953, she was united in marriage to Brynolf Rautiola and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1986. Together they had resided in Mass City, Midland, and Hancock. Elvie then resided in Houghton and for the past 3 years has made her home in Taylor. Also preceding her in death were 3 sisters: Alma, Dorothy, and Lillian; 3 brothers: Arthur, Ralph, and Brynolf. Surviving are: 2 Daughters: Susan (Larry) Kangas of Chassell Cathy (Tom) Page of Naples, FL 5 Grandchildren: Amy, Matthew, Brad, Laura, and Derek 1 Great Grandchild: Bryson 1 Brother: Wilbert Kero of Calumet 7 Sisters: Edna Rautiola of Houghton Ruth (Robert) Rabbitt of Battle Creek, MI Agnes Kantola of Howell, MI Viola Heikkinen of Baraga Alice (Raymond) Koski of Westland, MI Lois Kero of Canton, MI Karen Strand of Milford, MI Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Elvie will be held 11 a.m. Thursday June 22, 2006, in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Richard Eskola to officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery of Greenland. Friend may call at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock on Wednesday June 21, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
