Obituary of Elvin Lindeman Winona Elvin Edwin Lindeman, age 87, quietly passed from death to eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 12, 2004, following a short illness. Elvin ("El") was born on July 19, 1917, in Winona, MI, to Klas Otto & Elida Ereni (Teir) Lindeman. El was united in holy matrimony with Eva Ekonen on November 20, 1943, in Hancock, MI., they enjoyed over 61 years of marriage. He was the proud father of 2 children & 1 grandson. El was a gifted musician who mastered the guitar & also played various other instruments. Referred to as "The little man with the big guitar," El played with the Three Notes & various other bands in Chicago, IL, frequently appearing on WLS Radio. He also played lead guitar in "The Swingers," a band formed with his older brothers, Walter & Floyd. El was a 1936 graduate of the Winona High School & the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He also studied Diesel Engineering in Chicago and briefly attended Michigan Tech. During the WWII era, El served his country with the US Army Field Artillery, 382nd Battalion. Throughout his life, El worked at many Corporations including General Motors, Pioneer Engineering at Ford Motor Co., White Pine Mine & Champion Int'l, from which he retired in 1982. El was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Winona, American Legion Post #0304, United Paper Workers Union Local 0354 & Stone Corp. Retiree's Club. El was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers; Teddy, Walter & Floyd and his sister, Betty. El is survived by his wife, Eva Daughter, Deborah Jane Lindeman of Washington DC Son, Bernd "Vivien" Lindeman & Grandson, Jason Jacob Lindeman of Lake Linden, MI, plus a large group of other relatives. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church of Winona, with Revs. John West & Paul Marin to officiate. Spring burial to be in the Woodland Cemetery, of Winona. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials in Elvin's name, be given to the Omega House, 920 Water Street, Hancock, MI or the First Lutheran Church of Winona.
