Obituary of Erma Kilpela Hancock Erma M. Kilpela, 86, a former resident of Hancock passed away early Monday morning January 19, 2009, at the Winona House of Portage Pointe , in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past 3 years.She was born on May 7, 1922, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Oscar and Wilhelmina (Tapani) Poyhonen. Erma was a graduate of the Hancock High School. She worked in food service for the Hancock Public Schools for many years.On September 4, 1942 she was united in marriage to Paul Kilpela and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2001.Mrs. Kilpela was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton.
