Obituary of Ernest Landen Chassell Ernest L. Landen, 79, a resident of the Lower Worham Road, Chassell, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on June 8, 1925, in Tapiola, a son of the late Ferdinand and Lydia (Mattson) Landen, and attended the local schools. He later resided for a portion of his lifetime in the Detroit area until 1955 when he made his home in Escanaba. For the past 16 years he made his home in the Chassell area. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army in Italy. Mr. Landen was employed by the Daily Mining Gazette among other jobs he held as a Salesman. On april 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Ruth Kivari. He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Post #6507 of Chassell. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother. Surviving are: his wife, Ruth 1 Daughter: Mrs. Deborah (David) Butkovich of Chassell 3 Sons: Dwayne Landen of Chassell Dwight (Mary) Landen of El Paso, Texas Daniel (Lynn) Landen of Indiahoma, Oklahoma 7 Grandchildren 2 Sisters: Laila Merila of Roscommon, MI Lillian (Norman) Johnson of Roscommon, MI Numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2004, at 1 P.M. in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Richard Eskola to officiate. Burial to be in the Chassell Cemetery. Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell from 4 to 6 P.M. and 7 to 10 P.M. on Friday and for 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. The V.F.W.
