Esther Korpi

Obituary of Esther Korpi Dollar Bay H. Esther Korpi, 92, a former resident of the Dollar Bay area, passed away Thursday, Sept 8, 2005, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past 1 1/2 years. The former Esther Este was born in Turku, Finland, on October 12, 1912, a daughter of the late George and Lempi Este. She came to the United States, first residing in Dollar Bay, then Milwaukee, and returned to the Dollar Bay area in 1985, residing there until 1995-96, when she became a resident at Stillwaters Community Elders Home in Calumet. She was united in marriage to Stanley Korpi, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1993. Also preceding her in death was her first husband, Eino Lahikainen, a son; Elmer Lahikainen, an infant son; Theodore "Teddy" Lahikainen, a grandson; Jack Goodale and 1 Brother: Eric Este. Surviving are: 3 sons: Dennis (Jacqueline) Lahikainen of Dollar Bay John Perander of Westland Thomas (Kathleen) Lahikainen of Dollar Bay 5 grandchildren: Rodger (Bonnie) Goodale Teri (Joe) Falinski Mari (Ron) Ervast Curtis (Lori) Lahikainen Angela (Joseph) Bianco 11 great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild Sam Goodale Numerous nieces & nephews Funeral services for Esther will 1 P.M. Monday September 12, 2005, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Katrina Gallagher to officiate. Burial to be in the Liminga Cemetery.
