Obituary of Evelyn Marie Hahka Coburntown Evelyn R. Hahka, 81, resident of Coburntown, passed away Wednesday morning October 4, 2006, at the Portage Health Systems Hospital where she had been a patient for the past week and a half. She was born on June 21, 1925, in Paavola a daughter of the late Thomas and Hannah (Jylha) Olson. As a child she attended the Arcadian school and then the Hancock Schools. Mrs. Hahka was united in marriage to John E. Hahka and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1994. Evelyn was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton, a life member of the Portage Post #1292 V.F.W. Auxillary of Houghton, and the F.O.E. Aerie #382 Auxillary of Hancock. Also preceding her in death was a son-in-law Buddy Wiitanen, 4 sisters and 1 Brother. Surviving are: 2 Daughters: Pat Wiitanen Pam (Mike) Matson 6 Grandchildren: Terry Wiitanen Gene (Amanda Colombe) Wiitanen Brian (Brenda) Wiitanen Cheryl Wiitanen Sheila (Shane) Kohl Kelly (Kim) Matson 2 Great Grandchildren: Peyton Wiitanen Kayleigh Matson 2 Sisters: Norma Kangas Nancy (Carl) Kiiskila 1 Brother: Tom (Nancy) Olson 1 Foster Son: John (Lu) Hanke and family A Special Neighbor: Art Kumlin Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Evelyn will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Paul Marin to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
