Evelyn MRS

October 5, 1928 — November 5, 2013

Obituary of Evelyn Fear MRS Evelyn Elaine Fear, Bootjack It is with deep sadness that the family of Evelyn Elaine Fear announces her passing from complications of Alzheimer's disease, on November 5, 2013 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility. She was 85. We rejoice for Evelyn as she joins her Lord and Savior. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband and "Bear" John (Jack) Morgan Fear, her son John M. Fear II and his wife Rose, her daughter Barbara (Bo) Grant, and her son-in-law Bruce King. Her grandchildren include Molly Grant, John M. Fear III, Anne Flynn and her husband Jeremy. Evelyn was blessed and proud to have three great-grandchildren, Malia, Dominic and Marina Flynn. Evelyn was sadly preceded in death by her daughter Linda King (56) in 2010, her grandson Jason King (14) in 2001, and grand babies Ashley and Bailey Grant in 2002. Evelyn was born in Philadelphia on October 5, 1928 to the late Hardy and Helen Smith and spent her early years on the east coast, with many vacations spent on Block Island, Rio She graduated from Penn State in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. While working in this capacity at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington Delaware, she met the love of her life, Jack, a Captain in the Air Force. They married on January 10, 1959. Jack and Ev began their family and military lives together on Long Island, NY and the Air Force made sure they would see the country. Over the next twenty years, the Fear family of five moved to Arizona, Montana and Oregon before they called the Copper Country home, where Jack retired from the Air Force. Evelyn and Jack and their many doggies have made Bootjack their home since 1974. Ev lived a long, full, rewarding life filled with loving friends and family and a lot of laughter. Evelyn lived with character and grace and was loving and generous. She searched out the challenges and sorrows of life and did what she could to heal them one person at a time. She volunteered her time and her heart wherever she was needed. With God's help, Evelyn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed tremendously, not only by her family, but also by her church and those in the community whose lives she touched. The memorial service for Evelyn will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton, 10lD Madeleine Street, with Pastors David Weber and Aaron Gehrke officiating. The family will receive friends before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton, Evelyn's family church for many years. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at HCMCF for their kind, compassionate care of Evelyn for over a year. The Fear family also expresses their warmest appreciation for the many friends that became family over the years as they supported and assisted us with so much. Thank you to those who gave your time to visit Evelyn. You truly made a difference. Condolences to the family may be left on Evelyn's online memorial website at www.memorialchapel.net.
