Obituary of Flora Edith Miller Hancock Flora E. Miller, 91, a life long resident of Hancock passed away early Friday morning October 28, 2005, at the Woodland Haven unit of the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she had been a resident patient since June of 2002. The former Flora E. Puska was born in Salo on April 13, 1914, a daughter of the late Jacob and Ida (Pelto) Puska. As a teenager she moved to Hancock and has been a resident since that time. On June 29, 1940 she was united in marriage to Simon Miller and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1981. Flora was a wallpaper hanger and painter for over 30 years in the Copper Country. She was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. Mrs. Miller was the lone survivor of 14 children being preceded in death by 10 brothers, and 3 sisters, along with her parents. Surviving are: 2 Sons: Don (Marg) Miller of Onnela Rick (Mary) Miller of San Diego, CA 1 Daughter: Carole (Robert) Sherman of Charleston, S.C. 8 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Flora will be held Monday October 31, 2005, at 1 P.M. in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Revs. Rudy Kemppainen, Jimalee Jones and Susan Odegard to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. Friends may call on Monday October 31, 2005 from 12 Noon until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers or others expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to the local Alzheimer's support group.
