Obituary of Florence K. Ruohonen Oskar Florence K. Ruohonen, 76, a former Oskar resident and presently a resident of the Apostolic Lutheran Home for the Aged, in Calumet, passed away early Saturday morning, at the Apostolic Lutheran Home for the Aged, in Calumet, where she had been a resident for several years. She was born in Heinola, on September 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Jack & Edna (Dorvinen) Ruohonen, and attended the local schools. She later lived in Oskar until becoming a resident at the Apostolic Lutheran Home For the Aged in Calumet. Florence was a member of the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet. Preceding her in death by her parents, 4 sisters: Esther Kahkonen, Marie Bradshaw, Rose Kowalczyk, & Sylvia Sampson; 3 brothers: Yalmer, Peter, & Paul Ruohonen. Surviving are: 3 Sisters; Martha Hermanson of Oskar, Mae (Harry) Cobb of Hancock, Aili (William) Dunstan of the Houghton Canal 1 Brother; Fred (Irene) Ruohonen of Oskar 2 Sisters-in-law; Midge Ruohonen of Oskar, Barb Ruohonen of Houghton 1 Brother-in-law; Ray Sampson of Houghton numerous nieces& nephews. Private family funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2005, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Richard Eskola to officiate. Burial to be in the Oskar Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials may be given to the Apostolic Lutheran Home of the Aged or Keweenaw Home Nursing & Hospice.
