Obituary of Francis Tervonen Hurontown Location Francis E. "Franco" Tervonen, 74, a resident of Hurontown, passed away early Friday morning, March 4, 2005, at the home of his son in Marquette, Michigan, where he was residing temporarily. He was born on June 7, 1930, in Isle Royale #2 Location, a son of the late Frank and Hilja (Piippo) Tervonen and then moved to Hurontown Location where he had resided for most of his lifetime. He was a graduate of the Houghton High School with the Class of 1948. Franco had worked as a mechanic for several local automobile dealers, the White Pine Copper Co., and the City of Houghton, retiring in 1989. He was a veteran having served with the United States Marine Corp. On February 11, 1953, he was united in marriage to the former Lillian Siira. He was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. and a life member of the Houghton High School Alumni Association. Surviving are: his wife, Lillian 1 Daughter: Mrs. Janice Tervonen and husband Dale Durran of Seattle, Washington 3 Sons: Dale (Sandra) Tervonen of Oshkosh, Wisconsin Ronald Tervonen of Marquette Robert (Lisa) Tervonen of Ironwood 7 grandchildren: David, Susan, Daniel, Emma, & Erik Tervonen Brian & Philip Tomsovic 4 Sisters: Mrs. Viola Hedin of Hurontown Mrs. Violet (James) Theirault of L'Anse Mrs. Joan (Robert) Willis of Owosso, MI Mrs. Janet (Harold) Mortenson of Apple Valley, MN 1 Aunt: Mrs. Senia Harris a patient at Portage Pointe Numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Monday, at 11 A.M. in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Spring burial to be in the Mountain View Cemetery of South Range. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M. and for 1 hour prior to services on Monday in the funeral home.
