Obituary of Gary R. Beauchamp Chassell Gary R. Beauchamp, 65, a resident of the Paradise Rd. Chassell, passed away Monday August 1, 2005, at the Marquette General Hospital, shortly after admittance due to an apparent heart attack. He was born on April 28, 1940, in Mason a son of the late Edward Beauchamp and Myrtle (Schaaf ) Beauchamp-Rivest. Gary was a graduate of the Dollar Bay High School with the class of 1958. He has resided in Mason, Tamarack Mills, Hubbell, Lower Michigan, Dollar Bay and for the past 11 years on the Paradise Rd. Mr. Beauchamp worked for the Quincy Mining Co., Ford Motor Company, himself in the Oil Delivery business, the City of Houghton Police Department, the Houghton County Sheriff's Department for 28 years, 11 years as Under Sheriff and 1 year as Sheriff of Houghton County. After he retired from police work, Gary drove semi for Cuda Company and Blizzard Snow Plows. On September 9, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Delores Oja. Gary was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock. While residing in Dollar Bay, Gary also served as Township Supervisor of Osceola Township for several years. Gary loved his family and was a devote husband, father, and grandfather. Preceding him death were his parents, and Step-father Ovid Rivest, 2 Grandchildren: Luke Ovid Levanen and Jaren Paul Erickson; and 1 brother: David Rivest. Surviving are: His wife Delores J. Beauchamp 2 Daughters: Karrie (Paul) Levanen of Kalispell, MT Jodi (Ward) Erickson of Boston Location 17 Grandchildren: Jennette Levanen-Peterson, Tracy Levanen, Kendra Levanen, Nina Levanen, Andrew Levanen, Austin Levanen, Travis Levanen, Meghan Levanen, Whitney Levanen, Janessa Levanen, Cole Erickson, Ty Erickson, Hilary Erickson, Treven Erickson, Trey Erickson, Lucia Erickson, Shalyse Erickson, 2 Sisters: Alice (Merlin) Slusarzyk of Dollar Bay Beverly (Michael) Villequette of Rapid River 2 Brothers: Norbert (Judy) Rivest of Sheboygan, WI Larry Rivest of Dollar Bay 1 Sister-in-law: Kyle Rivest of Highland Park, IL Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Gary will be held Friday August 5, 2005, at 10:30 A.M. in the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Clarence Marttila to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Calumet. Friends may call at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock on Thursday August 4, 2005 from 3-5 &6-9 P.M. and on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at the church.
