Gary Byrnes

Obituary of Gary Byrnes Chassell Gary K. Byrnes, 61, a resident of Chassell passed away Monday, November 25, 2013, at home following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 26, 1952, in Ovid, MI, a son of Doris (Upton) Byrnes and the late Hugh Byrnes. Gary was a graduate of the Ovid-Elsie High School. Mr. Brynes was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He returned to make his home in Ovid, where he worked for Motor Wheel in Lansing, after which he began moving his way north, first to Wolverine, owning and operating the Meadows Bar and working as a carpenter in the Petoskey area, then to Bruce Crossing, where he worked as a Tractor Operator for the US Forest Service. Most recently he was employed by TSA, until his retirement in 2011. Since July, he has made his home in Chassell. On July 16, 1994, he was united in marriage to the former Karen Donnelly. Mr. Byrnes was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church of Chassell and a life time member of the V.F.W.. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. Preceding him in death was his father Hugh Byrnes.
