     Gary A. Outinen, 69, a resident of Chassell passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at his home following a lengthy illness.    
     He was born on March 30, 1954, in Highland Park, MI, a son of the late Edward and Mildred (McIver) Outinen.  Gary was raised in Detroit, MI, and Harrison, MI, graduating from the Harrison High School. He then attended Mid-Michigan Community College.
     On August 25, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former Tina Giddings.  The couple had resided in Detroit, Belleville and Harrison before moving to make their home in Chassell. Mr. Outinen had worked at Fischer Auto Body and Detroit Diesel before beginning a career in Food Service.  He was a talented chef and was part owner of the Sunnyside Restaurant in Harrison.  Locally he had managed the Bear's Den Restaurant in the Ojibwa Casino, Keweenaw Berry Farm and the Pilgrim River Steak House.  Over the years Gary enjoyed serving many people including some famous clients.
     In his free time he enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing and taking boat rides.
     Surviving are:
      His wife: Tina Outinen of Chassell
        His daughter: Cassie Gibson of Chassell
        His grandchildren: Jade, Jacob and Jocelyn all of Chassell
        His special companion Bailey
        His brother: Terry (Cindy) Outinen of Harrison
        Several nieces, nephews and cousins
     A private celebration of Gary's life will be held at a later time.
