Obituary of George Auger HOUGHTONGeorge A. Auger, 82, a resident of Houghton, passed away suddenly at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI, Wednesday evening October 10, 2012.He was born on December 17, 1929, in South Range, MI, a son of the late George and Eva (Chaput) Auger. George was a graduate of Jeffers High School.Mr. Auger moved to Milwaukee, WI, after high school where he was employed with a machine shop.George was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean War in Korea and Guam. Following his time in the service, George returned to the Copper Country to make his home.On June 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to the former Delores Ciucci. The couple first resided in South Range and for the past 49 years had made their home in Houghton.Locally, Mr. Auger was employed with the Upper Peninsula PowerCompany where he loved to work, first as a groundsman and retiring as a coal truck driver after 38 years.Mr. Auger was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church ofHoughton, and a former member of the V.F.W. and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, working on projects around the house and was the family bus driver helping whenever he could. He was the definition of a family man, was very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them immensely. John Martignon to celebrate.
