Obituary of George August Kiiskila Lake Annie Location George A. Kiiskila Sr., 72, a resident of Kiiskila Rd., Lake Annie Location, peacefully passed away with his family by his side Friday morning May 30, 2008, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 26, 1935, in Hancock, a son of the late John and Mable (Klintti) Kiiskila. Mr. Kiiskila attended Hancock High School and was a graduate of Soumi College and Northern Michigan University. Mr. Kiiskila was a veteran having served with the United Sates Army in Korea from 1955 to 1957. On June 21, 1958, he was united in marriage to the former Jane Normand. George was a member of Hope Fellowship Church of Houghton. He had first worked as a full time dairy farmer and then for the State of Michigan as a social worker in Macomb, Baraga, and Houghton counties, retiring in 1992 after 25 years. George was an avid sports fan and followed the Red Wings and Tigers closely. Preceding him in death was a grandson Mark Heidfield, his parents, two brothers: Carl & Robert and an infant sister, Mary. Pleasant, MI George (Susan) Kiiskila Jr. of Oneco Location Frank (Ann) Kiiskila of Leonard, MI His grandchildren: Scott & Nicole Lograsso Adam, Daniel, & Ben Heidfeld Christina, Samuel, & Sarah Kiiskila Nolan, Alex, Lindsey, & McKenna Kiiskila His brothers: John Kiiskila of Franklin Location Walter (Eileen) Kiiskila of Dollar Bay His sisters: May Forsman of Lake Annie Rd. Jean Hippula of Coburntown Numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services for George will be 11 a.m. Monday June 2, 2008, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Pastor Paul Marin to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. Friends may call on Sunday from 6 to 8 at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to the Salvation Army in George Kiiskila's name.
