Obituary of Gloria LaBelle HoughtonGloria M. (James) LaBelle, 81, a resident of Houghton passed away Sunday evening February 26, 2012, at the Omega House in Houghton following a lengthy illness.She was born on July 29, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan a child of the late Louis and Almeda (Falerios) Picotte. As a child, she moved to Lake Linden where she graduated from the Lake Linden High School with the class of 1948. Gloria was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Anthony in Lake Linden and also worked at the Curtin Grocery Store in Lake Linden.On April 24, 1954, she was united in marriage to James LaBelle at St. Joseph's Church in Lake Linden by Monsignor Raymond. The couple then moved to make their home in Houghton, where they have resided for over the past 50 years. For over 40 years Gloria had been a Avon lady in the Houghton area.Mrs. LaBelle was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton. She enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family. Gloria also loved cats.Preceding her in death were her grandson Christopher Tucker, her great grandson Nathaniel LaBelle, her parents and her brother Francis Picotte.Surviving are: Her husband: James LaBelle of Houghton Her daughters: Phyllis (Forrest) Tucker of Arizonia and their children Naomi, Heidi, Charity and DavidLori (Clifford Therrian) LaBelle of Houghton and a special granddaughter Christina LaBelle and a very special great-granddaughter Chloe of South Range.Her sister-in-law: Jane Picotte of CaliforniaHer beloved Kitty FrecklesSeveral nieces, nephews, and cousins A memorial mass for Gloria will be held 11:00 am Friday March 2, 2012, at St Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery of Lake Linden.Friends may call on Friday March 2, 2012, from 10 am until time of services at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests that memorials be given to the Omega House in Houghton or to Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly in memory of Gloria M.
