Obituary of Gloria Sakari HANCOCK Gloria S. Sakari, 84, of Hancock, died on Friday, July 16, 2010 at PortagePointe in Hancock, where she has been a resident-patient for 1 year. She was born on November 6, 1925, in Liminga, a daughter to the late Alfred & Alina (Kuru) Korpela Gloria was united in marriage to Bill Sakari on December 4, 1954, in Hancock. Gloria was a lifelong resident of the Copper Country and a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hancock. Preceding her in death were her parents, infant son - Don, granddaughters - Gina Lipka & Jodi Sakari, 3 brothers - Mordy, Van & Orval Korpela, 4 sister - Eva Korri, Sylvia Pintar, Lillian Hinkson & Tharon Stromer. Surviving are: Her husband, Bill of PortagePointe in Hancock, 4 Sons - David (Kristi) of Liminga, Jim (Eve) of Marengo, WI Henry of Dollar Bay & Duane of Baraga, 3 Daughters - June (Mike) Backman, Phyllis (Dale) Anderson & Lenell Lipka all of Dollar Bay, 1 Brother - Elton Korpela of Howell, 21 Grandchildren & 15 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Sakari will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hancock with Ronald Jouppe to officiate. Friends may call on Monday, July 19, 2010 from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
