Obituary of Gordon Toivo Moilanen Hancock Gordon T. "Gordie" Moilanen, 74, a resident of Pine St., Hancock, passed away Thursday morning January 17, 2008, at the Omega House in Houghton following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 17, 1933, in Salo Location a son of the late Tiovo and Anna (Tiura) Moilanen. As a child Gordon attended the Salo School and was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the class of 1951. Mr. Moilanen had worked for Detroit and Northern Savings and Loan Bank in Hancock and was the Dean of Financial Aid for Soumi College until his retirement in 1995. He was a lifetime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock where he was active serving as a past treasurer for the church. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Robert and an infant sister Nancy. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Spring Burial will be in the Waasa Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday January 21, 2008, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock from 9 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock or the Omega House of Houghton.
