Obituary of Gordon Sutinen Hancock Gordon John Sutinen, 74, a former resident of Hancock passed away Saturday evening November 21, 2009, at the Franklin House of Portage Pointe in Hancock. He had been a resident patient with the Long Term Care of Portage Hospital and Portage Pointe for over the past 24 years.He was born on November 15, 1935, in Hancock, a son of the late John and Mayme (Kuru) Sutinen. Gordon was raised in Liminga and attended the Liminga, Redridge, and Houghton Schools.Mr. Sutinen was a veteran having served with the United States Army with the military police.Mr. Sutinen had worked at Michigan Technological University in Houghton in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.Surviving are: His sisters; Doris Kyllonen of Hancock Sandra Clairmont of Hancock His brother; Tom Sutinen of Hancock Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousinsFuneral services for Gordon will be held 1 pm Wednesday November 25, 2009, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Douglas Wuebben to officiate.
