Gregg Bjorne

Obituary of Gregg Alan Bjorne Chassell Gregg A. Bjorne, 68, a resident of Chassell passed away Tuesday July 8, 2014, at the Marquette General Hospital following a short illness. He was born on May 3, 1946,, in Ishpeming, a son of the late Calvin and Jeanette (Rice) Bjorne. Gregg was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School with the class of 1964. He then attended Northern Michigan University. On June 18, 1966, he was united in marriage to the former Joan Boase. Mr. Bjorne was a veteran having served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He then returned to Northern Michigan University to receive a degree in Elementary Education, and finally his masters degree in Education. Mr. Bjorne began working for the Chassell Schools in 1973 and retired in 2002 as the Elementary Coordinator and a 4th grade teacher. Gregg was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell, he was still active with the Chassell schools helping with various projects. He also was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #417 of Ishpeming, and Moose Lodge #1223 of Bradenton, FL. He loved golfing, working on his lawn and following the Green Bay Packers. Preceding him in death were his parents and several aunts and uncles. Surviving are: His wife Joan Bjorne of Chassell His sons: Kevin (Andrea) Bjorne of Sault St. Marie, MI Kenneth "K.C." (Kristen) Bjorne of Marquette His grandsons: Colin and Alexander His brothers: Glenn (Maribeth) Bjorne of Oshkosh, Wi Gary (Kristin) Bjorne of Ishpeming Several uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Gregg will be held 1 pm Friday July 11, 2014, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell with Rev. Joe Iverson to officiate. Burial will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery at a later time. Friends may call on Friday July 11, 2014 from 10 am until time of services at the church.
