Houghton
In Loving Memory of Gregory (Greg, Greggie) Lee Morin, Beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother,
Uncle, & Friend
Gregory (Greg, Greggie) Lee Morin, 55 of Houghton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on
Thursday, May 22, 2025, due to an extended illness.
Greg was born on November 28, 1969, to Frank Sr. and Dagmar (Hietala) Morin in Hancock,
MI.
Greg was a graduate of Houghton High School's class of 1988, where he played varsity hockey
for the Gremlins for four years.
Greggie had a way of keeping us on our toes. Armed with razor sharp one liners and a sly eye,
he could have a room in stitches with just a few words. His sense of humor was unmatched; he
could roast you with precision, and before you had a chance to recover, he'd pull you in close
with a pat on the back and say, "Love you, bud." That was Greggie: equal parts heart and
hilarity.
He was a walking encyclopedia when it came to local sports and trivia, rattling off stats, stories,
and little-known facts like it was second nature. If there was a game on, Greggie wasn't just
watching; he was analyzing, predicting, and storytelling all at once. He was a huge Detroit
Lions and Detroit Red Wings fan.
He had patience in abundance, especially when it came to being a Walmart shopping partner to
his sister (Amy), a role he approached with surprising grace and good humor.
But what truly defined Greggie was his boundless love and compassion for his family. He was
always ready with a good laugh when you needed it most. His nieces and nephews held a very
special place within Uncle Greggie's heart, as he did theirs.
Above all else, Greggie's greatest pride was his son, Brandon. He spoke of him with unmatched
admiration and love. And in recent years, nothing lit him up quite like becoming "Grandpa" to his
grandson, Abel, a title he wore with immense pride and joy.
Greggie's legacy is one of laughter, love, and loyalty. He leaves behind memories that will be
cherished forever, and a family who will miss him, his jokes, his stories, and above all, his
company and his heart.
We love you, bud.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. (2006) and Dagmar (2007) Morin,
