Obituary of Hanna Sofia Marshall Houghton Hanna S. Marshall, 91, a resident of Arbor Green, passed away Saturday October 7, 2006, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past 3 1/2 months. She was born on August 17, 1915, in Hancock a daughter of the late Johan Emil and Hilda Catherine (Rintamaki) Marke. She attended the Hancock schools. For most of her life Hanna had resided in the Coles Creek area of Houghton Canal. On June 11, 1938, she was united in marriage to Arthur Frank Marshall and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1972. Hanna had worked during World War II in the Detroit area as a Dimpler for B-29 planes at Briggs Factory. Locally Hanna had worked for JC Penny, as a Catalog Supervisor. Mrs. Marshall was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock, the Quilters of the Church, Soumi Kerho, Stanton Township Senior Citizens, and the F.O.E. Aerie #1122 Auxiliary of South Range. Also preceding her in death were a son Gerald Marshall, a sister Lillian Nisbett, a brother Emil Marke and members of the Harold Ruottinen family (the family that raised her). Earlier in her life she also lost 2 sisters, Esther & Kathryn. Surviving are: 1 Daughter: Kathryn (Thornton) Land of E. Machias, ME 3 Grandchildren: Michelle Parker, Mark Marshall, and Kristian Andreini 4 Great Grandchildren Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Hanna will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday October 10, 2006, in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Monday October 9, 2006, from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel Funeral home of Hancock and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. The family suggests that memorials be given to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock or The Arbor Green Activities Cimmittee, at 920 Dodge Street, Houghton, MI.
