Harold Hawke

Obituary of Harold J. Hawke Caspian Harold J. Hawke, 86, a former resident of Caspian, passed away early Friday morning, February 9, 2007, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where he had been a resident patient for the past month. He was born on May 29, 1920, in Crystal Falls, a son of the late Howard and Eva (Duscharme) Hawke. As a child he attended the Caspian Schools. Harold had resided in the Iron River area until moving to Houghton in 2004. Mr. Hawke was a veteran having served with the United States Army during World War II. In 1941 he was united in marriage to the former Zaire Mary Magaraggi they had celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1991. On June 27, 2004, she preceded him in death. Together with his wife, Harold had owned and operated the Hawke Shoe Repair Shoe in Iron River for 38 years. Harold was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and Reino American Legion Post #21. He was known to be an avid outdoorsman and an all around "good guy". Also preceding him in death was a brother Curtis and a sister Myrtle Reid. Aloysius Hasenberg to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery in Stambaugh, MI.
