Obituary of Harry C. Cobb Hancock Harry C. Cobb, of Hancock, MI & formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday evening March 17, 2007, at the Omega House in Houghton, MI. He was born on November 22, 1921, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Lawton & Ida (Oscar) Cobb. He graduated with a BS degree from Ferris State College and a Masters Degree from Western Michigan University. He served with the United States Army air Corp in World War II. Ha was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years. Harry was employed with the Michigan Department of Treasury for 35 years. On December 6, 1944, he was united in marriage to the former Mae Ruohonen. He is survived by his wife Mae of Hancock, and their children: Douglas (Merry) Cobb of Newago, MI, Connie Stuart Cobb of Davison, MI, Carol Sue Hassett of Walker, MI and Chuck and Kathi VanHoey of Greenville, MI, Grandchildren Carrie (Phil) Reynolds, Darrell (Char) Cobb, Greg Cobb, Patrick Hassett, Jason (Amanda) VanHoey, Heather (Marc) Sutherland, Mike (Angie) Parsons. 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, & nephews. A sister Joy MacLaren of Florida. A memorial service for Harry will be held at 11 a.m. on March 31, 2007, in the Portage Lake United Church of Houghton, with Revs. Victoria Bethel and Phil Nancarrow to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday March 31, 2007.
