Obituary of Helen Anderson Atlantic Mine Helen P. (Paul) Anderson, 78, a resident of Atlantic Mine passed away Friday evening September 28, 2012, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient since February. She was born on December 27, 1933, in Pelkie, a daughter of the late Matt and Lyyli (Pulkki) Oja. Helen graduated from the Baraga High School and St. Joseph's Hospital Nurses Training to become a Registered Nurse. She first was employed with the Baraga County Hospital. She then was employed with the Zion Hospital, Zion, IL, Victory Hospital, Waukegan, IL, and retired from the Kenosha Memorial Hospital, Kenosha, WI, in 1993. On March 29, 1958, she was united in marriage to Paul Anderson. The couple celebrated 54 years together. Since 1993, they have made their home in Atlantic Mine. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. Helen loved to laugh and spend time with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her daughter, Pamela, her brothers: Rudolph, Reuben, Robert, Ralph, and Martin. Surviving are: Her husband: Paul Anderson of Atlantic Mine Her children: John (Ronda) Anderson of Beach Park, Il and their children; Lana (David) Oliver, Ian, Jodi, and Luke. Beth (Carl) Torola of Calumet and their children; Selina (Kurt) Johnson, Mallory, Marisa, Carl, Pamela, Rosemary, Warren, Brannon, and Lowell. Ruth (Kris) Laho of Bristol, WI and their children; Alan (Heather), Matthew (Nora), Dustin, Megan (Steve) Hallstrom, Nolan, Jessie, and Bubba. Brenda (Richard) Henry of Winthrop Harbor, IL and their children; Olivia (Jon) Langston, Richard Paul and Emma Her five great grandchildren Keira, Grady, Kadi, Kayne and Kaisa Her sisters: Eleanore (Bob) Cocozella of Sedona, AZ Alyce (Clyde) Elmblad of Chassell Her sister-in-law: Marie Oja of Hermansville, MI Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Helen will be held 11 am Wednesday October 3, 2012, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Richard Eskola to officiate. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday October 2, 2012, from 4 to 8 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock and on Wednesday from 10 am until time of services at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton.
