Obituary of Helen Glowacki Houghton Helen M. Glowacki, 86, a former resident of the Bluff's Senior Living Community in Houghton passed away Monday evening November 9, 2009, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past six months. She was born on September 4, 1923, in Regina Saskatchewan, Canada a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Englot) Mikus. As a child, she moved with her family to Detroit, MI. Helen was a graduate of the University of Detroit. Helen was a veteran having served with the US Navy during World War II. On June 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dr. Edward T. Glowacki, and he preceded her in death on May 25, 2005. The couple resided in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, and in 1976, moved to the Clearwater, FL, area to reside year round. In 1994, they visited the Upper Peninsula and decided to reside in Keweenaw Bay for the spring, summer, and fall, wintering in Florida. In 2003, they moved to the Bluff's Senior Living Community in Houghton. Mrs. Glowacki was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church of Chassell. She was a talented seamstress and interior designer. Preceding her in death was her husband, her daughter Leslie Jo, her son Robert and her parents. Surviving are: Her children: Karen (Vince) Gennaro of Westchester, NY Edward (Lynn Artman) Glowacki Jr. of Chassell Laurel Glowacki of Euless, TX Paul (Jan) Glowacki of Rochester, MN Her daughter-in-law: Merci Glowacki of Raleigh, NC 6 grandchildren: Danielle, Robert Jr., Edward III, Alissa, Hannah, & Greta Mae. Her siblings: Ted (Rae) Mikus Eleanore Mikus Virginia (Chuck) Wenzel A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held 11:00 am Thursday November 12, 2009, at St. Anne's Catholic Church of Chassell with Fr. Al Mott to celebrate. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday November 12, 2009, from 10 am until time of services at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials may be given to St. Anne's Catholic Church of Chassell.
