Obituary of Helen Mary Karvonen Boston Location Helen M. Karvonen, 80, a former resident of Boston Location passed away Monday November 13, 2006, following a short battle with cancer. She had been a resident at the Apostolic Home for the Aged in Calumet since this past February. She was born on February 21, 1926, in Boston Location a daughter of the late John and Ida (Kemppainen) Karvonen. As a child she attended the Boston School. Helen had resided in Boston Location for most of her life except for 20 years when she lived in Detroit working several jobs and retiring from Eckstroms. Ms. Karvonen was a talented person but especially loved to sing and whittle wood. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 Brothers Arthur, George, and Rudy and also a special cousin Hilda Karvonen. Surviving are: A sister-in-law: Agnes (Rudy Karvonen) Johnson and their children all residing in the state of Washington. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Helen will be held 11 A.M. Saturday November 18, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with the Richard Eskola to officiate. Burial will be in the Waasa Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 A.M until time of the services at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials may be given to the Apostolic Lutheran Home for the Aged in Calumet in memory of Helen.
