Obituary of Helen Peterson Chassell Helen E. Peterson, 88, a former summer resident of Chassell passed away Monday October 23, 2006, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she had been a resident patient for the past 3 years. She was born on March 8, 1918, in Painesdale a daughter of the late John and Hilda (Kempainen) Juntunen. As a child Helen attended the Doelle School. Mrs. Peterson has resided in Detroit, Southfield, Speedway, IN, Boynton Beach, Fl, and Chassell. Prior to being a resident at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility Helen had resided in the Northridge Pines Assisted Living Community in Calumet. In July of 1939 she was united in marriage to Reino Albert Peterson and he preceded her in death in December of 1990. Helen was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell. Preceding her in death were her parents, 2 Brothers: Phillip and an infant brother Wilbert. Surviving are: 2 Sons: Dale Peterson of Spring Lake, MI Dean(Frances)Peterson of Russell, KY 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren 2 Brothers: Gilbert (Esther) Juntunen of Tapiola Royce (Rosemary) Juntunen of Indian River, MI 2 Sisters: Lea Meekins of Grand Rapids, MI Ruth Salo a resident patient of the Apostolic Home for the Aged in Calumet. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Memorial services for Helen will be held 10 a.m. this Saturday October 28, 2006, in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell with rev. Ted Koehl to officiate. Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery.
