Obituary of Helga Niemi ChassellHelga E. Niemi, 91, a former resident of Chassell and Cypress Manor passed away Sunday November 16, 2008, at Portage Hospital in Hancock where she had been a patient for the past week.She was born in Pelkie on August 12, 1917, a daughter of the late Edward and Ilmi (Aho) Pelto. On March 6, 1944, she was united in marriage to Raymond Niemi in Hancock, MI, and he preceded her in death in September of 1987.Also preceding her in death were her parents, a son Eddie Ray and a great granddaughter Robin, three brothers, two sisters, and several nieces & nephews.Surviving are: Her grandson: Marc Niemi of Kewaunee, WI 3 great grandchildrenAce, Daiman, & BradenOne sister: Toini Alcenius of Dearborn, MI Her brother: Leonard (Irene) Pelto of Houghton A special niece who was her care giver in Chassell: Esther Bohto of ChassellSeveral nieces, nephews & cousinsFuneral services for Helga will be held 2 pm Saturday November 22, 2008, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell with Rev. Peter Gundersen to officiate.
