Obituary of Helmi A. Noponen Houghton Mrs. Helmi A. Noponen, 90, a former resident of Arbor Green & Paavola, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 22, 2006, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility where she was a resident patient. The former Helmi Pusa, was born on June 3, 1915, in Liminga, a daughter of the late Matt & Amanda (Laitila) Pusa. She later resided in Liminga and the Paavola area for over 54 years. Since April 1, 1994, she made her home at Arbor Green, until becoming a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility. She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock and the Paavola Senior Citizens. On March 26, 1937, she was united in marriage to Walfred Noponen and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 2 sisters: Matilda Kinnunen & Lempi Rantala, & 3 brothers: Waino, Walfred & Wilhart Pusa. Surviving are: Several nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 25, 2006, at 3 P.M. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock, with the Rev. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Friends may call on Saturday from 1 P.M. until time of services at the funeral home in Hancock. Spring burial will be in the Liminga Cemetery.
