Obituary of Henry James Fillmore Chassell Henry J. "Jim" Fillmore, 76, a resident of Chassell passed away Monday morning October 28, 2013, at the Portage Hospital in Hancock. He was born on May 19, 1937 in Elgin, IL, a son of the late Ray and Louise (Factly) Fillmore. He was raised in Hampshire, IL, where he graduated from the Hampshire High School. Mr. Fillmore was a veteran having served with the United States Army. Following his military duty, Jim returned to Hampshire where he worked as a carpenter/bricklayer until he began a career as an officer with the with Illinois Department of Conservation. On September 16, 1972 he was united in marriage to the former Sally Hyatt. The couple resided in Hampshire until moving to Chassell in 2004. While residing in Illinois, Jim also was a Firearms Instructor and traveled throughout the state. Jim enjoyed working on gun repair projects and he loved to spend time outdoors hunting & fishing. He also was an avid reader. Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother Thomas. Surviving are: His wife: Sally Fillmore of Chassell His daughters: Barbara (Terry Hughes) Fillmore of Chatham, MI Angela (Chris Miller) Fillmore of Hayti, Missouri His grandchildren: Joseph, Rebecca, Amanda (TJ) Moore Several nieces, nephews, and cousins As requested, a private service will take place at a later time. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery. In lieu of expressions of sympathy, the family suggests that memorials be given to the charity of one's choice in memory of Henry "Jim" Fillmore.
