Obituary of Henry E. Kivari Chassell Henry Kivari, 91, a resident of Lehtola Rd., Chassell, passed away Monday morning April 23, 2007, at Portage Pointe in Hancock were he had been a resident patient for the past 3 months. He was born on February 8, 1916, in Chassell a son of the late John and Kaisa Sofia (Isoviita) Kivari. As a child he attended the Chassell School. Henry was a veteran having served with the United States Army during World War II. On March 19, 1949, he was united in marriage to Alice Luusua. Mr. Kivari had moved to Detroit and worked as a Tool & Die maker for Detroit Reamer & Tool Company. In 1983 Henry retired and moved back home to Chassell where he has resided since. Henry was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock. Preceding him in death were his parents 4 brothers Louis, John, Paul, Ralph, and a sister Martha Tuomi. Surviving are: His wife Alice Kivari of Chassell Children: Warren (Tarja) Kivari of Chassell Rachel (Daniel) Pedersen of South Haven, MN Norman (Carol) Kivari of Blaine, MN Andrew (Jana) Kivari of Walled Lake, MI 32 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren Sisters: Sigrid Lund of Lower Michigan Helmi Hongisto of Clawson, MI Ruth Landen of Chassell, MI Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, & a host of christian friends. Funeral services for Henry will be held 11 a.m. Friday April 27, 2007, in the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Clarence Marttila to officiate. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery. Where the Copper Country Veterans will hold military rites. Friends may call on Thursday April 26, 2007, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.
