Obituary of Henry Narhi Hancock Henry "Hank" Narhi, 82, a former resident of Lake View Manor in Hancock, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan following a lengthy illness. He was born on January 16, 1922, a son of the late Arvid and Lena (Oja) Narhi in Osceola Twp., Michigan, He later lived in Sunshine Location, moving to Paavola in 1966, and then moved to the Lake View Manor in Hancock to make his home. Hank had attended the Mills school in Tamarack City, and the Dollar Bay High School. Before becomming a Veteran of World War II, he was employed at the C.C.C. Camp in Sidnaw, MI. Following his service time he was a Merchant Seaman on the Great Lakes until his retirement. In 1955, he was united in marriage to the former Helen (Helmi) Aittama and she preceded him in death on July 26, 1986. Besides his wife & parents, he was preceded in death by: A Step son, Paul Halkola: and 2 Brothers, Donald & Victor Narhi. Surviving are: 2 Daughters: Linda Narhi of Laurium Nancy (Jack ) Smith of Lake Linden 3 Grand Sons: Jack Smith Jr. Eric Leskela Kyle Leskela A Step Daughter: Mrs. Verna Helvick of Dollar Bay 4 Sisters: Lee Hyrkas of Lake Linden Esther (Edsel) Linja of Calumet Jean Narhi of Tamarack Clarice Narhi of San Dimas, Calf. 1 Brother: Reino (Delores) Narhi of Hubbell numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2004, at 2 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, with Rev. Ken Toth officiating Spring burial to be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel in Hancock, on Friday, March 12, 2004, from 5 to 8 P.M. and for 1 hour prior to services on Saturday.
