Henry Rimpela

Obituary of Heny Rimpela Chassell Henry B. Rimpela, 93, a resident of Worham Rd., Chassell passed away Monday April 30, 2007, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where he had been a resident patient for the past month. He was born on August 16, 1913, in South Range, a son of the late Henry and Minnie (Karppinen) Rimpela. As a child he attended the Painesdale Schools. At the age of 16 Henry moved to the Chassell area and has resided there since that time. On May 22, 1936 he was united in marriage to the former Esther Maatta and after 68 years of marriage she preceded him in death on December 18, 2004. Henry was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell. Mr. Rimpela had worked in the Painesdale mines and for many years as a carpenter for himself and Niemela Contracting. Henry also owned & operated his own Dairy Farm for many years. Surviving are: 1 Son: Ronald (Joyce) Rimpela of Chassell 1 Daugher: Shirley (Donald) Hill of Avon Lake, OH 6 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, & 6 Great Great Grandchildren 1 Brother: Paul (Shirley) Rimpela of Tapiola Rd., Chassell Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Henry will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2007, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell with Rev. Ted Koehl to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Friday May 4, 2007, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell from 10 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell in memory of Henry Rimpela.
