Obituary of Herta Sporalski Painesdale Herta F. Sporalski, 99, a former resident of Painesdale passed away Friday March 29, 2013, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home of Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past nine months. She was born on August 27, 1913, in Wernigerode, Germany, a daughter of the late Gustav and Frieda (Niemann) Grohmann. As a child, she moved to Painesdale where she attended the Painesdale schools. She had resided in Painesdale until 2008 when she moved to live with her son and daughter-in-law in Hancock. In 1932 she was united in marriage to Paul Sporalski and after 59 years together he preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Sporalski was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton, where she was a former member of the Dorcas Society. She also was a former member of the Ladies Aide in Painesdale. Herta enjoyed knitting, croqueting and different hand work projects. Preceding her in death were her husband, her daughter Nancy Dove, her parents, her brother Gus and her sister Hedwig Morin. Surviving are: Her son: Paul (Marilyn) Sporalski of Hancock Her grandchildren: Amy (Darryl) Pierce of Laurium Craig (Brienne) Sporalski of Hancock Her great-grandchildren: Derek Pierce, Troy Pierce, Taylor Mattson, Mallory Sporalski and Tatum Sporalski Several nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Herta will be held 11 am Tuesday April 2, 2013, at S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton with Rev. Aaron Gehrke to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Tuesday April 2, 2013, from 10 am until time of services at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorial be given to S.S.
