Obituary of Howard Joseph Willmes Dollar Bay Howard J. Willmes, 78, a resident of Upper Point Mills-Dollar Bay, passed away Tuesday January 24, 2006, following a short illness, at the Omega House in Houghton where he had been a resident for the past day. He was born on April 25, 1927 in Hurontown a son of the late Ruben and Margaret (Sweet) Willmes. Howard had resided in Hurontown until 1960 when he moved to Dollar Bay. Mr. Willmes was a veteran having served with the United States Marine Corp during World War II. In October of 1968 he was united in marriage to the former Ruth Ostrand and she preceded him in death on August 5, 2000. Howard had worked for Superior Block of Houghton for 40 years as a truck driver. His love of wood working, baking and cooking home made soup for his friends will always be remembered. Also preceding him in death were 1 sister: Faye Baldwin and 1 brother: Albert Willmes. Surviving are: 2 Daughters: Mona (Ronald) Lamanen of Coal Dock Rd. Candy (John) Sanelli of Cleveland, OH 2 Sons: Charles (Karen) Mattfolk of Dollar Bay Mark (Goldia) Mattfolk of Dollar Bay 11 Grandchildren: Lisa, Brenda, Daniel, Brian, Kevin, Jeff, Carla, Andy, Rob, Stef, & Lorenzo 2 Sisters: Marie S. Hugo of Rochester Hills, MI Margaret K. Naczek of Sussex, WI Several Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins Special friends: Tom Thorton and Mose Greenleaf Funeral services for Howard will be held 1 P.M. Saturday January 28, 2006, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Jimalee Jones to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
