Obituary of Hugh Charron HANCOCK - Hugh Robert Charron, 101, a former resident of Roberts St. in Hancock and of Stambaugh, Mich., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where he had been a resident patient for over the past three weeks. Prior to that he had been a resident patient at Still Waters Assisted Living Community in Calumet. Mr. Charron was born on March 7, 1903, in Crystal Falls, MI, a son of the late Alphonse and Elma (Cardinal) Charron. He attended four Crystal Falls Schools, Central, Maple Grove, Forest Park, and the High School, graduating with the class of 1922. In his early years Bob helped in the Charron family blacksmith business. Then he was employed by the Ford Motor Company at the Kingsford Plant in Iron Mountain, MI. On February 1, 1926, he entered the employment of the M.A. Hanna Company where he worked for 41 continuous years. Over that span he had worked in the Wakefield Mine in Wakefield MI, Clifton Mine near De Grasse, NY. Upon closing of the Clifton property, he was transferred to the Iron River District Mines where he was employed at the Bengal, Cannon, and Hiawatha Mines. On June 13, 1929 he was united in marriage to the former Helen Ruth Cadman in Wakefield, MI. The Charrons celebrated 67 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 18, 1998. The Charrons lived for over 40 years in Iron County. First in Rodgers Location of Bates Township for several years then they moved to the City of Stambaugh, MI. In 1992 they moved to Hancock, MI to be near their daughter because of health reasons. In 2002, he went to live at Still Waters in Calumet, MI. For over the past 3 weeks he has been a resident patient at Cypress Manor in Hancock, MI. Mr. Charron was a member of Church of Resurrection In Hancock, and a former member of St. Celia Church in Caspian. Bob was also a Life Time Member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks, A.A.R.P. and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Also preceding him in death were 2 Brothers: Lyle Charron, Wilfred Charron and 4 Sisters: Rachael Cayia, Dell Bruely, Gene Givogre, & Loretta Kelly Surviving are: 1 Son: Robert A. Charron of Lost City, WV 2 Daughters: Mary A. (John) Malmberg of Chassell, MI Nancy R. (Robert) Pintal of Carp Lake, MI 10 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren Many nieces and nephews A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 16, 2005, at 1 P.M. in the Church of Resurrection, Hancock, with Rev. Fr. Wayne Marcotte to officiate. Spring Burial to be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, MI. Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell on Tuesday February 15, 2005, from 6-8 P.M. where a prayer service will be conducted at 7:45 P.M.
