Obituary of Ida Oinas Hancock Mrs. Ida M. Oinas, 91, a resident of Hancock, passed away early Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2003, at the Portage Health Systems Hospital in Hancock, where she had been a patient for the past week. The former Ida Margaret Parkinen was born in Franklin Township, on Dec. 10, 1912, a daughter of the late Matt and Margaret (Heikkinen) Parkinen, and lived for most of her lifetime in Hancock. On July 20, 1935, she was united in marriage to Isaac Oinas, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1980. Ida had been employed by the former Edie's Restaurant in Hancock, and had done houskeeping at various homes. She was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. Preceding her in death besides her husband, were her parents; 1 Sister, Fannie Frantti; 5 Brothers, William, Eino, Edward, John Rueben, Albert; and 2 very special nieces; Lorraine Helminen & Joyce Bessonen. Surviving are: 2 Sons: George (Carol) Oinas of Valencia, CA & Roland Oinas of Chagrin Falls, Ohio 1 Daughter: Mrs. Mary (Robert) Anderson of Calumet 2 Grandsons: Ryan & Matthew Anderson of Calumet 2 Sisters-in-law: Alice Parkinen of Marquette & Hilja Kallio of Lake Linden Several nieces, nephews, and 1 cousin Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec., 29, 2003, at 11 A.M. in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Richard Eskola to officiate. Spring burial to be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock, from 2 to 4 P.M. on Sunday and for 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
