Obituary of Irma Soumis ChassellOur devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Irma Josephine (Feira) Soumis went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2011.Irma was born on June 21, 1928 to the late Dominic and Josephine(Aimone) Feira in Painsdale, Michigan.She married Jerome Soumis on January 1, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1972.With enough faith to move mountains, Irma was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Chassell. She nurtured her children and grandchildren to have faith and trust in the Lord.Irma was well known in the community for the countless years at her business, "Gramma's Antiques." She loved to cook and feed her family. Being of Italian descent, she thought, "if you weren't eating, you weren't happy." She is survived by her nine children, Jerome (Kathy) Soumis, Robert Soumis, Frances (Gary) Northam, William (Leanne) Soumis, John (Joy) Soumis, Raphael (Julie) Soumis, Helen (Tim) Gerard, Eugene (Theodora) Soumis, and Marie (Mark) Kayser. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a brother, Dominic (Sue) Feira, sisters; Josephine Rocket and Mamie Karpinen (Al Morin) along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Irma is preceded in death by her husband; Jerome Soumis, sister; Mary (Jess) Stephanik, and grandson Justin Weirauch.
