Obituary of Jack Masters Jack L. Masters, 78 , a resident of Ryan Street, Hancock, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, March 30, 2004, at the Portage Health System Hospital, where he had been a patient since Saturday. He was born in Hancock, on October 19, 1925, a son of the late John & Irene (Laurin) Masters, and has resided for his entire lifetime in Hancock. He was a graduate of the Hancock Public schools. Mr. Masters had worked as a crane operator at the former Portage Coal Company and also as a custodian/bus driver for the Hancock Public Schools. On June 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to the former Lorraine Roberts, and she preceded him in death on March 29, 1998. Also preceding him in death were his parents and 1 brother, Douglass of Mt. Clemens. Surviving are: 2 Sons: John (Gail) Masters of Tamarack Location David (JoAnn) Masters of Hancock 2 Daughters: Barbara (Curtis) Hoffenbecker of Hancock Patricia (David) Kerttu of Hancock 10 grandchildren 3 Great Grandchildren 2 Brothers: Roger (Kay) Masters of Hancock Ronald Masters of Houghton 2 Sisters: Shirley Masters of Hancock Joan (Thomas) Gibson of Tiffin, Ohio Several nieces & nephews Funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, 2004, at 10 A.M. in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, with Fr. Wayne Marcotte to officiate. Spring burial to be in the Lakeside Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
