Obituary of Jacob Myllyoja Chassell Jacob "Jack" H. Myllyoja, 69, a resident of Lakeshore Dr., Chassell, passed away Monday February 28, 2005, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veteran's in Marquette. He was born on August 21, 1935, in Beacon Hill a son of the late Hjalmar and Hilja (Lindstrom) Myllyoja. Jacob was a graduate from the Hancock High School and Pitt Community College where he received an AA degree in bussiness. Mr. Myllyoja was a veteran having served for 20 years with the United States Marine Corps where he served in Califorina, Washington DC, and Vietnam, retireing as a Master Sargent. After the service Jack had worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 18 years in Greenville, North Carolina. He had spent his retirement years in North Carolina and Chassell. Jack was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell, the South Range V.F.W. where he helped with makeing pasties each month. He was also active with the Marine Corp Leauge Branch Detachment 1016, Alfred Erickson Post #186 American Legion of Hancock, Fleet Reserve, and the Moose Lodge of Toivola. He was preceded in death by one brother,Martin Myllyoja, and two sisters, Sylvia Goudge and Anita Massey. Surviving are: 2 Daughters: Connie (Bruce) Thompson of Tacoma, Washington Dana Block of Tacoma, Washington 5 Grandchidlren Edwin Jacob Thompson, Scott William Thompson, Casandra Lynn Thompson, Michael Leigh Zelinski, and Daniel Christopher Zelinski 4 Sisters: Helen (Donald) Pyer of Hollywood, Florida Miriam (Richard) Schroff-Melvin of Royal Oak, MI Ruth Glasson a resident patient at Cypress Manor Nursing Home of Hancock Annette (Richard) Hibler of Vero Beach, FL numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A graveside memorial service will be held on June 24, 2005, at 11 A.M. in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock with Rev. Ted Koehl to officiate. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell has been assisting the family with the arrangements.
