Obituary of James Zerbst MR HurontownJames H. Zerbst, 72, a resident of Hurontown, passed away Friday evening February 28, 2014, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock following a lengthy illness.He was born on April 11, 1941, in Houghton, a son of the late Fred and Ida (Kangas) Zerbst. He was a graduate of the Houghton High School.Mr. Zerbst was a veteran having served with the United States Army.On June 28, 1968, he was united in marriage to the former Beth Steinmetz. For the past 45 years they have made their home in Hurontown.Jim was employed with Houghton Bottling Company, Ala Gas Company (now Ferrell Gas), Gundlach Contracting and retired from the Houghton County Transfer Station as manager.Mr. Zerbst was active with Copper Country Junior Hockey Association, coaching various teams and serving on the Board. He also was a Trustee for Portage Township for a number of years. For many years, Jim enjoyed working on farm tractors in his garage. John Martignon to celebrate.
