Obituary of Janice Jaasko HANCOCK - Mrs. Janice L. (Ted) Jaasko, 72, a resident of Ingot Street, Hancock, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette where she was a patient for over the past two weeks. The former Janice L. Simmons was born on June 2, 1932 in Calumet, a daughter of the late Harold and Crescence (Kleinhard) Simmons and attended the local schools. She later made her home in Hancock. On August 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Jaasko. Janice was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Hancock and the Auxiliary of the Ahmed Temple of the Shrine. Surviving are her husband; one son, Gary Jaasko of Chassell; one daughter, Nancy (Gerald) Paulson of Nisula; three granddaughters, Mrs. Heather (Larry) Biekkola of L'Anse, Ms. Melissa Paulson (Mike Loukus) of Calumet and Ms. Jessica Paulson of Marquette; two great-grandchildren, Lauryn and Ross Biekkola; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Wiitanen of Houghton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock, with Rev. David Weber to officiate. Burial to be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
