Obituary of Janna Dons Fick Houghton Janna Dons Fick entered glory on Sept 13th, 2014, after a 4 1/2 year journey with pancreatic cancer. She was born on November 25, 1952 in Savannah, GA to Frederick A. and Jean (DeYoung) Dons. She grew up in Western Springs, IL. She earned a B.S. in chemistry from Wheaton College, IL in 1974 and an M.D. from University of Illinois Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine in Chicago in 1979. She completed her pediatric residency at Cook County Hospital in 1982. Her marriage to Brian E. Fick in 1978 took her on many adventures. After three years in Blacksburg, VA they moved to Salt Lake City, UT where their son Stephen was born. Janna practiced pediatrics there for eighteen years. A move to Houghton, MI in 2004 brought retirement and new adventure. Important to her were family, friends, fiber arts, and faith in the saving grace of Jesus. The community of Evangel Baptist Church was much loved and appreciated. She is survived by her loving husband Brian (Houghton, MI), son Stephen (Davis, CA), brothers Robert (Gail) Dons (Chicago, IL) and David Dons (Waukegan, IL), in-laws Andy (Becky) Grimes (Winnebago, IL) and Gregg Fick (Loves Park, IL), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Janna will be held 11 am Wednesday September 17, 2014, at Evangel Baptist Church of Houghton with Steven Wilson to officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery of Eagle River, MI Friends may call on Wednesday September 17, 2014, from 10 am until time of services at the church.
