Obituary of Jason Dorvinen Houghton Canal Jason M. Dorvinen, 24, a resident of the Houghton Canal District, passed away late Monday December 3, 2007, at the Marquette General Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks following an automobile accident. He was born on January 1, 1983, in Hancock, a son of Ron Chopp and Dawna Dorvinen. As a child Jason attended the Stanton and Houghton Schools. Mr. Dorvinen has resided in Hancock, Houghton, Atlantic Mine, Calumet, Dollar Bay, and for the past year has made his home in the Houghton Canal District. Jason was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of South Range. He had worked in the construction field most recently for LaRoux Contracting. Jason was a excellent mechanic and loved to work on cars and tractors, he liked to spend time with his friends Camping under the stars, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and Bowling. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather William Dorvinen, his paternal grandfather Leo Chopp and his maternal great grandmother Edna Lantto. Surviving are: His mother: Dawna (Hal) Behrendt of the Houghton Canal District His father: Rodney (Mary) Chopp of Houghton His brothers and sisters: Jared Dorvinen of the Houghton Canal District Emily Dorvinen of the Houghton Canal District Bradley Chopp of Houghton Michael Chopp of Houghton Rosanna Chopp of Houghton His maternal grandparents: Sophie and Joe Perreault of the Houghton Canal Dis. His paternal grandmother: Ann Chopp of South Range. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins Funeral services for Jason will be held 4 p.m. Saturday December 8, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church of South Range with Licensed Lay Minister Nicholas Hopman to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday December 8, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church of South Range from 2 p.m. until time of services.
